Rage against the dying of the light

I just spotted this, courtesy of Raceday360wire.

If an entire marketing campaign isn't built around this picture then I don't know what the hell we are doing anymore.

Bloodhorse has this article. Ask yourself how you would feel if the NFL didn't list the names of their injured players.

This, I don't understand. I don't know how the auction thing works but if someone was unwilling to sell their horse at a premium, why would they sell it at the rejects sale? Do the RNA sales draw more money? Seriously. I'm asking.

All might not be lost. Make this happen. The Filly and Mare Classic holds the better racing anyway; she loses nothing in defeat.

Final note. This ipod thing that I have is a wonderful device. I have been downloading podcasts as if I were being paid for each one I watch. One podcast in particular has captured my attention and prompted an obsession that might shade the proverbial line of propriety, depending on jurisdiction.

Geekbrief with Cali Lewis is smart and pithy and a godsend for the technologically inept, like myself. Mrs. Not Really just smiles and nods when I tell her that I only watch it because it is dragging me into the 21st century and that the host bears a striking resemblance to her...which she admits. She also feels the need to point out that an interest in Greco-Persian history is the only reason she watches 300. Though I wonder how much she is learning with the volume off?

Anyway, this one episode of Geekbrief had a thing about how Crave at Cnet recently changed their site colors from a black background, which apparently is harder to view for some, to a lighter one. A poll I did a while ago about how to improve this blog, curiously, had most of the suggestions addressing that very issue. So for those of you that took the time to let me know, even though I wasn't listening, thank you.

A lot of nice horses get lost in the mix at the big sales, especially the first two days. Which is why some people hold out a nicer horse until later days of the sale. The RNA sales are probably another option to highlight those particular horses. It also might be a more conducive environment for deal-making, plus you won't have to pay the hefty Keeneland sales commission. Those are my guesses.

In re the photo in your last post, I saw that over the weekend and fell in love with it! I want to frame it.

Totally love the new background. The black hurt my eyes too :)

Winston, my thanks as well for the background change! The white is much, much easier on the eyes, which makes it possible to do nothing but enjoy your words when visiting. Thanks also for the R360 Wire mention!

Wow. I had no idea. Mea Culpa.

Kerry-Thanks. I just wonder if they get more money offered the second time around?

Thanks, everyone, for reading this long.

Thank you Winston! As someone who remebers that long ago poll (and your response), it's wonderful to be able to actually read this without bringing out the flashlights & turning on the magnification.

Thanks too for this excellent example of how the customers (at least those who participated in the poll) are often proven right by the "experts". Let's hope the NTRA and others follow your lead and listen to their users.

Anon-I had no idea it was a readability issue. I just figured that nobody liked my color scheme.

My apologies and thanks.
