I finally got my internet connection back. Switching providers and dealing with the installation of new service is quality fun. I highly recommend it.
I am changing tack here and will no longer focus on handicapping race cards. While I might throw out an occasional best bet of the day, which you should all run from like the plague, I am told the best way for me to gain a better understanding of the thoroughbred industry is to have ACTUAL conversations with people in the field. As crazy as that sounds I think I might give it a shot.
I also happened to read the interview with Ray Paulick, that John at Not to the Swift, posted today.
Here, to my shame, is the particular passage:
First, thanks for the opportunity, and I'd like to follow up on something I commented on awhile back about the state of Thoroughbred blogs. I said they were pretty lame, and I stand by that statement for when it was made. But they've come a long way from the days of people giving out who they like at today's racing card at the local track.
I must add, as must be painfully obvious to anyone reading this, that I have no idea how to work all the Html codes or hyperlink stuff. I copied some code and pasted it but it's not doing what I want it to.
Dutrow announced today that Big Brown will not be injected with Winstrol for the Belmont Stakes. Mighty sporting of him. Seeing how he has no idea what it does I think it can only hurt his chances; Dutrow's, not Big Brown's. Just like a pitcher has a routine before every pitch, I think Dutrow is going to feel off his game if he isn't injecting his horse with something. Nobutaka Tada, the representative of Casino Drive's owner, announced that his horse would not have any medication for the big race.
Then again, whether it's the mile and a half or a rap sheet comparison, the Japanese connections probably walk away with a minor award on Saturday.

I have no idea how to use this.
