Straddling the TED spread

Has nothing to do with the quote in Turfluck's recent post.

I spent the morning, transfixed by the trading screen on my Scottrade account. I have no money in it (anymore) but I still have access to all the features (note to Twinspires-I don't have to use it to have access to its features) and how often does one get a peek into the Ginnungagap? The first forty minutes of trading were the wildest I have ever seen and the gamma in GE alone resembled the National Debt Ticker in Times Square.

Made me wonder if track owners have considered their own Ted spread, i.e., the difference in takeout v. track handle.

This article in the Paulick Report makes an argument echoing something I wrote several months ago. (full disclosure: BoDog has since purchased advertising here)

Dante wrote, "The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in a time of moral crisis maintain their neutrality." If 'our core fans are pissed' is indeed true, then we have an obligation to make our voice heard in the only language this industry seems to understand. The Breeders' Cup, in its infinite wisdom, decided to move the Distaff division to Friday, the relegation league. Prove them right by not playing that day.

The straddle is not a strategy that works for this spread.

Who knew economics could sound so ... dirty?

Good idea re: The Dismay of Distaff Day. After all, some just like to watch.

Lots of folks seem to feel the same way as you do -- and they've signed the petition at
