I guess I'm a Blogger.
I don't know exactly what that means but if it has anything to do with an unqualified person (read not a "journalist"), verbally ejaculating into cyberspace about matters with no thought to veracity or objectivity, then mark me down as one of them.
So I find it curious that this article or post or whatever you want to call it made it into what I assume is a recognized publication, not tainted with the stench of eau-de-blogger. I refer you to the second to last paragraph.

I wish the local newspapers had as much horse racing content as reserved for our putrid hockey team.
Woodbine surely has a better product and the out-of-town guests often regret the visit, unlike the Leaf's visitors.
At least we have Jennifer Morrison in The Star.

Anon-It was not my intention to single out anyone. I just think that in this day and age when we have come to expect less and less of each other while demanding more recognition, it is instructive how low we have set the bar.
Ask yourself, not you you but everyone you, if you would feel comfortable boarding an airplane or undergoing surgery by someone who "doesn't know much about it"?
Quality and mediocrity come in many guises and the facade of an "institution" does not preclude one from the other.
Keith-I hope it's o.k. if I link to your blog. And for what it's worth, no team with "EDDIE" on it could be considered putrid.

For someone who knows nothing about racing, she had all the right quotes in there and although the terms were wrong mentioned the same things the more "quality" papers did. Not bad for an rookie writer, she was probably paid little and if she in fact knows little , she did manage to get in all the pertinent info-who won, the handlers quotes and what happens from here.
Second Anon-I think we are getting away from the point.
Forget the fundamental errors of information. I don't have anything against the reporter and in fact she is not the point.
What I was pointing out is that just because someone has a press pass from an "accredited" media outlet, it doesn't make them more qualified than someone who is just throwing something out there.
Blogging has become a pejorative among the mainstream media types and it might behoove them to not slap that self-righteous brush around so wide.
This blog excluded, of course, which wouldn't pass the sniff test anyway.
