Nothing to see here

I lifted this article from Paulick Report who I guess lifted it from The Star Phoenix.

I have never been to Marquis Downs and before reading this article never even heard of it so I am not familiar with any of the parties and have no idea if there is any truth to the allegations. What I find sadly appropriate and indicative of what this industry is going through is the fact that the two major parties involved, owners vs. track execs, are so far apart on this issue.

Trainers and jockeys are not going to be the voice of dissent in this issue. They are the middle men(people) and need to work for a living. Should any one of them make a fuss I think the track could just deny them entry to the grounds. The jockeys I think could make something out of this because their lives are on the line but if you are running at Marquis Downs then I figure you can't be too choosy.

If the track is as bad as is alleged then the owners have an obligation to stop running their horses there. They have a direct say in where their horses run and are responsible for their well being. Demand change.

Surface not to your liking? Go somewhere else. Marquis Downs will either make the necessary improvements or shut down.

Change comes slowly if it comes at all and there are signs that this patient is not quiet ready to have the proverbial plug pulled. Owners need to get together and institute some of the changes that are so desperately required.

In other news, the polls have closed on my survey of the value of the NTRA. This scientific and valid survey with a whopping sample size of seven, reveals that six people think the NTRA is useless and the seventh person either has never heard of it or was casting a vote to express their opinion on its impact.

Thanks to those who voted, I'll see you at the family reunion.
