Showing a real zest for breaking news, the Miami Herald uncovered this gem today.

Dutrow flat out denied having any issues with Iavarone after the latter told Jeannine Edwards that he took 'Babe' to task and was going to take away his horses. Dutrow and Iavarone must have worked this out beforehand to garner some sort of attention. Nobody is this stupid...well, maybe.

After a great, albeit nervous ride aboard Ginger Punch, Bejarano's feeling were hurt by the fact that the other jockeys didn't keep their horses in the gate. Rubbin' son, is racin'.

Commentator wins the Whitney and Zito comes up with "If you get old, don't give up." I like Zito, he is a classy guy and while he could trim his ears every once in a while he is good for the sport but Yogi Berra he ain't. A few years ago he came out with "If you're not in it, you can't even lose." WTF is that?

Curlin might be pointed towards the Pacific Classic. What happened to the Arc or at least a turf campaign? One shot and then you let yourself be dissuaded by public opinion? The same public that is responsible for the U.S. House of Representatives?

Clarice at Outrider has a nice piece on old school training during a Triple Crown campaign.

HRTV did an interview with Charlie Hayward and while I wasn't really paying much attention to it, I was watching the races across the pond on TVG, I heard him express some reservations regarding polytrack, or what have you, for the NYRA tracks. (Yes, my modifier is dangling and I was not across the pond watching the races on TVG. I was in my home on this side of the pond, watching the TVG broadcast of the races that were running on the other side.)

How's that for investigative reporting?

Nice work scoop.

Hayward talked about synthetics at the preview last week, and will be sitting on a panel on Tuesday to talk about them again. He's pretty skeptical at this point, wanting a lot more research done, particularly in potentially carcinogenic elements of the stuff, plus, NYRA can't afford to install a synthetic track.

Excellent post, as usual...

I like Virginians making a name for themselves in the racing industry. And, ah, not just because I'm trying to be one. Hey, look at Secretariat. Virginians who get into racing are a good thing. Go Halsey.

Geno-Never let it be said I didn't do the least I could do.

Teresa-Thanks. I will be looking forward to your updates.

Kerry-I throw myself on the mercy of the court and plead ignorance. I can't disagree with anything you are saying but I have no idea what you are talking about.

Thanks for reading.

Hmm. When I click on that first link it takes me to an article about how Halsey Minor (Virginian, fellow UVA grad) wants to invest in Hialeah, but the owner, Brunetti, is resistant. I was trying to say that he shouldn't be resistant, that Virginians in the TB industry are a good thing ... but apparently I missed some steps in the explanation part. Oops. Sorry.

Kerry-Absolutely my bad. I totally missed the fact that Minor's first name was Halsey. I just kind of skim through the names and just remember the last names and even then I forget.

Sorry.
