Why can't bettors be stupid?

Here are the results for wednesday's card at Churchill http://www.drf.com/drfPDFChartRacesIndexAction.do?TRK=CD&CTY=USA&DATE=20080521&RN=99

Not a bad way to start off the week, if I do say so my damn self.

We swept races 1-3. All our horses won at playable odds so we go into race 4 with the track's money. I thought A to the Croft's Tomlinson numbers were a little below par and I admit I took a swing with Grape whatever. McPeek and Albarado should have been a tip-off but I'm dumb that way. Anyway, she went off odds on so no bet on her anyway. I'm just dumb for not passing the race.

Race 5 we took down with the favorite who was WICKED hard to come up with. Went off at 6-5 so no play.

Race 6 was a hormone induced debacle where I was thinking with the wrong head.

Race 7 I was just wrong.

So we hit 4 out of 7 today, with 3 of them playable. I need to figure out my overall strike rate, regardless of betting value. Churchill seems to be kind to favorites, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the caliber of horse savvy down there.

I found a man putting together a partnership out on the east coast, running in the mid-atlantic tracks. He seems to be straightforward and decent enough and willing to put up with my incessant questioning. I might join his team to get a feel for managing a racing partnership. He has kindly said that he would be more than happy to answer any and all questions I might have.

Poor bastard...
