What's in a name?

Tough card at Churchill today. Good races, track is fast, turf is firm.
I'm going to try a different approach today. In the spirit of getting geared up for June 1 and the layout of real cash I thought I would try handicapping the card with no more than 15 minutes devoted to any race. A speed handicapping experiment if you will. We'll see what happens...

Only race we skip today is race 2.

Race 1 Clm 7500 at 1m. I'm torn between the 1 and the 4. The 3, New Awakening, takes the biggest drop in class and makes his second start off a long layoff but I'm going to stay clear of him.

Race 3 Clm 10000 at 7f for fillies and mares. I like Silvie's Lullaby the 4. She makes her second start off a layoff in a field that doesn't show much speed. She checked in at third her last time out at this same distance and I think this time she can hold on all the way. Shows a work since last and gets Leparoux. Angelica Delight drops into this with competitive figures but has sat for 4 weeks with nothing to do. Autry is also pretty cold this meet.

Race 4 MSW 41k at 5f for 2 yr old fillies. The 7 Cameron Crazies. She comes out of a good last race where the winner was also by Lion Heart. I latched onto his ass after he broke his maiden and rode him all the way to the Derby. I have a soft spot for him. Lukas hasn't forgotten how to prep a 2 year old and Albarado getting on board doesn't hurt either. A Lion Heart colt just won at Pimlico too.

Race 5 Alw 45200N2x 1m on the turf. The 3 Highest Degree. A tough N2x with a lot of speed. If Ambassador, the 4, can run fresh he runs away from this field and the 2, You got me Rocking, could just wire the field. Like I said, tough...

Race 6 Clm 5000 N1 this year at 6f. The 5 Smokin Jordan. The last horse I scoffed at that came out of River Downs in the slop, spanked me...

Race 7 MSW 41k at 1m. The 4 Glenwood Canyon.

Race 8 Alw 43100N1x for fillies and mares 5f on the turf. The 3 Grand Obsession.

Race 9 Clm 15000N3L at 6f. The 6 He's a Dixie Boy.

So anyway, the other day I saw a post on a horse racing forum, about the best/worst horse names of all time. The one I thought was absolutely classic and surprisingly, made it past the folks at the jockey club: Alpha Kenny Won.

You gotta want it...
