So I think we have a pattern developing, most of the horses I pick end up running second. Here are the charts for friday:http://www.drf.com/drfPDFChartRacesIndexAction.do?TRK=CD&CTY=USA&DATE=20080509&RN=99.
If I bet to place I would be way ahead of this game. It looks to me as if I need to fine tune my betting strategy. None of the winners were surprises, in fact most of them were the favorites. Most of them were too short a price to bet to win but the exactas were probably very gettable...yes I am making up my own words now, remember it's my blog. While I would be showing a loss on the meet I am encouraged that my picks are not running off the board and that I am not getting beat by longshots. Getting beat by the favorite when you choose not to play the price is not completely disheartening. I either need to turn to the exotics to complement my win bets on short priced favorites or pass the races entirely.
If I were a smarter man I would pass on the handicapping thing entirely.
In other news, I received excellent instruction in Excel and now have a basic profit loss spreadsheet going that I willl incorporate into my page as soon as I start laying real money down.
Until tomorrow, may all your photos be winners.
