Churchill 16 May 2008
First fast track we have seen in a few days. Results were fair and reflected the consensus.

Races 1 and 2 we skipped.
Race 3 our horse won at 6to5...no bet there. Not hard to come up with that one either. The obvious exacta paid just over 3-1 so a lousy betting race all around.
Race 4 we lost as the second choice at 7-5 by 1/2 length. No bet either...for the better.
Race 5 our choice at even money ran up the track. No bet but we missed the signs of a short priced loser. Copy Runner, the 1, showed more speed than he ever had and cooked our choice up front, weakening his late game. No other horse had shown early speed and the 8 figured to get a comfortable lead. That's why we set our limit at 8-5. Because we suck.
Race 6 the winner and our horse came out of the same race with equally bad performances. The 4 had been facing better and broke his maiden in an allowance vs. the Mdn Claim that the 8 came out of. The 8 however still had higher Beyers and in a paceless race he controlled it from the start. Our choice pressed for a half and then spit the bit, much like he had in his last 4 races...HELLO?
Race 7 Our choice at 5-2 gave himself too much to do. Again the winner and our horse come out of the same race. Both show works coming into this race and our horse shows an improving pattern as opposed to the 4 who was regressing. The 3 just comes from too far out of it and does not standout on class to warrant such a bet. Where was I when I made the call to bet on him.
Race 8 Mdn Claim we passed and never got around to handicapping the remainder of the card.
Overall, it's getting better. Little pieces are slowly falling into place. Still, Churchill is just tough to find an overlay on a good horse. I would like to dabble a little into the exotics but I just take too long just handicapping the card that I don't leave myself with any time work on betting strategy. That will come with time I hope.
Tomorrow I will be playing the Pick four at Pimlico for the Preakness card. There is a guaranteed $1million payout on the late Pick four and I might take a stab at it. Right now, I'm going to try to beat Big Brown in the Preakness. I KNOW he wins in a walk on paper. There is no skill in figuring that out. You run this race 100 times and he wins it at least 85. He is not 3-10 or 1-2 even. I think he is vulnerable off the short rest and his foot issues. Besides, how else can one make a big score. If he trips or a sniper takes his ass out...the race is WIDE open.
I'll post my picks tomorrow afternoon before the first race of the pick four. I meet with the trainer tomorrow morning so we'll see what comes of that. I will keep you all apprised...the Google policy states that I can't write...breast.
1-9 in a walkover is a good bet.
